Big Fred's Bytes - Oct. 20th

NEAL-FRED-43

Good Morning from 1515 Butler Road, Worthington.  This is the last Bytes newsletter that I will likely send from this office (home Office).  For those of you that have not heard, Mike & Melissa Barker bought our house and we plan to close Nov 15th.  We are excited for them and excited for the opportunity to see what God might bring to the next chapter in our lives.  We have decided to rent a 3-bedroom apartment about 1 mile from the Kittanning Campus for now.  Our plan is to find a ranch that will fit our needs or build.  So anyway, please keep us and the Barkers in your prayers as we are dealing with many extra things connected to this, but they are all good.  And our Father “is good” and knows what we need.  Anna and I have ideas but we both seek to serve Him through it all.

Ladies, do not miss this Women’s Conference if possible.  You can sign up for the Nov 11th (Saturday) event here.      It will cost $15.00 per person and snacks/lunch will be provided too.  Bring a friend!  Focus will be from 1 Peter and how to redeem the suffering within our daily lives.  Peter equips us well.  Lots of good content and speakers and it will be worth way more than you invest.

Active Shooter training on Saturday October 21st from 9-11am.  You can register at the door for this no cost training.  We encourage all teachers and leaders from Harvest Kidz, CRAVE, A Brighter Day Learning Center, Deacons, Elders, and Safety Team members to come on Saturday.  You may also invite similar leaders from other churches to join you, but we will be speaking directly about Harvest plans.  I am sure they will be able to adapt it to their context with no problem.  We will also repeat this on Sunday Oct 22nd beginning at 1 pm that will be open to the public.  Members of the DA’s Office and Sheriff’s Office will present the ALICE preparation model and plan to equip you with some practical principles that could be applied in a variety of situations.  We will have a Q & A near the end of both sessions on the topic.

We are also preparing the details of our November 12th combined Elder/Deacon meeting.  This meeting will be held at the Freeport Campus Sunday Nov 12th starting at 5:30. Try to arrive around 5pm, dinner will be provided.  We have lots to discuss.  As we prepare, I encourage our Deacons and Elders to consider their call to serve in this capacity.  Please review 1 Peter 5, 1 Timothy 3, and Titus 1 before that meeting and prayerfully consider your heart to serve God’s Church at Harvest.  If any of our Deacons or Elders find themselves in a season that may not allow continued commitment as outlined in those scriptures and during our Harvest leadership discussions, please contact me or your Campus Pastor so we can care for you well.  If others in the church believe God may be calling them to get more active in their serving and/or leadership, please meet with your campus pastor to discuss pathways to grow, mature, and serve to your full capacity.  God gives the people of the church spiritual gifts and it is our responsibility to use them, being a good steward of that which He entrusts us with for His glory.  1 Corinthians 12

Continuing with that note:  It is God’s desire for all of us to serve.  We have a Spiritual Gifts assessment that you can complete to help you inventory and identify your gifts and passions.  That is typically done during the Harvest New Member Class and the results are placed in your profile in My Harvest.  If you have yet to complete that exercise, or have not published the specifics within your personal profile page, I encourage you to take that step.  This helps us identify places that may be of interest to you throughout the church. My Harvest is our centralized data base used to maintain contact information throughout Harvest.  You can log in to your personal and family profile pages at any time to ensure your contact information is up-to-date.  If you need help learning more, please see one of our Deacons to walk through that with you.  Questions about User Names and resetting your passwords are handled by Tammy in the Church Office at 724-548-5643.

Our short-term team is back from Israel and we are preparing for another small group for India in the coming weeks to help build the Body of Christ there.  Please keep their efforts in your prayers as they present a Qualities of a Biblical Marriage seminar to the local people.  If you are interested in participating in a short-term mission trip with Harvest, watch for details in our weekly bulletin.  We are currently discussing plans for 2018 which include Paraguay, Israel, Mexico, and some US locations as well.  We would love to help you prepare to take that next step.  Your Campus Pastor is your best source of information regarding taking steps to help prepare you for these opportunities.

Harvest You Tube channel is a great place to visit to enjoy recaps of Harvest activities and mission trips.  Watching these short clips will help you see what has been happening in the lives of your brothers and sisters around the church.  You can easily get there by clicking the “You Tube” icon in the bottom left corner of our Harvest Homepage  www.harvestpa.org  It is just to the right of the “Give Online” icon.

Don’t forget, you can schedule your appointment to donate blood on Oct. 24th at the Kittanning Campus by visiting the website of the Central Blood Bank at register here .   Our group # is G0450037.  Or call the Church Office at 724-548-5643 between 9am – 3pm (Monday – Friday).

Operation Christmas Child boxes are going out soon…  Such a great opportunity for us to be a blessing to children around the world by giving a few small but valuable items and to know they hear about Jesus in the process.

As Pastor Mike has been preaching through this series regarding the biblical view for Men & Women from God’s plan, you may have thought of something that you need more information on or have questions about.   Please text your questions to 724-567-8192.  Pastor Mike is planning a time near the end of the series to address those or we can respond directly if more appropriate.  See your Campus Pastor if you need help submitting the questions via text.

If you have not scheduled to be included in the new church Photo directory, time is running out.  Call the church office if you need help registering.  We can include submitted photos too.  But take a step today to get signed up.  We are also looking for candid photos that can bring some personality to the directory so if you have some fun photos, you can load them via the Harvest Church App by clicking the Media button there.

God Bless,
Bigfred
