Big Fred’s Bytes
December 15, 2017
This time of year can be very festive and full of cheer for some, yet others find it to be a challenging time as they struggle with loneliness or depression. I would like to encourage all of us to take this opportunity to reach out and include others in our gatherings. Invite someone into your home for dinner. Look for opportunities to invite people to join us at church. You can make an impact, one person at a time. If there are needs that exceed your capacity, invite members of your community group to help meet the need. Your Campus Pastor is also available to discuss special circumstances that may require more resources.
Psalm 100 is short but very good to share with others. Read it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to lighten your heart:
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
We plan to have Harvest Happenings ready for you right after the New Year. Be sure to look for your copy to help keep updated on ministry opportunities around your church.
Did anyone notice if this year really had 365 days in it? It seems like it flew by; however, as I look over some of the things we experienced, I see that God packed in way more than any of us might have expected. I guess it must have included 12 months…
Your church has been active in so many ministries in our communities and around the world. If you are part of Harvest, you are integrally involved in all these ministries. Your prayers, your participation, and your financial support are the only way we were able to reach these people.
Please keep your Harvest 10:16 missionary team in your prayers. All three families are now together in their community making plans for ministry in 2018. Harvest supported 15 other missionaries in 2017 and their work continues in many regions helping to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the lives that have yet to hear. 103 Harvesters participated in 5 short term trips in 2017, and we are making plans for 2018 as we speak. Your prayers for those that we met, ministered to, and full-time missionaries that we work along side are important. We pray that God would grow those seeds of the Gospel in the days ahead.
Each campus has experienced and shared so many testimonies of how God has been at work in your communities. I started to include many of those but decided I need to share those details at another time … (soon)… but you will remember some if I mention:
The Hoodlebug Festival (yes, that’s right), Family Fun Fest, North Washington Rodeo, Sugarcreek Rest, Freeport prayer walks, Camp Commotion, VBS with a couple hundred kidz hearing about Jesus, their Savior. The Riverfront Service with baptism in the river, Dayton Fair with David Crowder (and Pastor Mike pulling his beard). The renovations at all four campuses in our Harvest Kidz areas-awesome job, Church! Thank you all – in so many ways, Thank you! You worked, served, loved, shared what you could and then gave more. You do the ministry, folks! You are the church and you step in to those roles in a big way.
I pray that God will bring more opportunities our way in 2018, and if you are wondering what all the fuss is about from those last few paragraphs, I invite you to join us and allow God to bless you as you serve as His hands and feet helping to carry the Good News that there is hope in Jesus Christ to others.
Our office hours will be adjusted between Christmas and New Year’s a little, so if you have a need but cannot reach the office, call or email your campus pastor directly. Concerning year end giving, all tithes and offerings received by midnight December 31st will be posted to the 2017 giving records. You can always print your giving statement online within your My Harvest profile page, but we will also be sending them out to all addresses of record in mid-January 2018.
Merry Christmas to all and Christ is our King,
